"Hi, UR player Joe Allen. We offer €5m plus €20m in add ons....10m if we win the league and a further 10m if we win the champions league providing he plays in every game and scores 40 goals each in two consecutive seasons.
Please respond within the next 10 mins or we will move onto our other target, Neymar.
Ta, Dave"

Re: The transfer window thread
Joe Allen is average, 25m, righto.

This after he refused to offer more than 13m for a young Belgian international in a position we are desperate to fill.

Re: The transfer window thread
Oh, all is forgiven then. A £25m bid for Allen turned down.

So what? Does he think that makes everything all right?

If they had done their job and got Carvalho in the summer and then Dendonker in January we'd have no need to go after Allen.

And why the fuck would Stoke sell Allen in January? He is about their only midfielder with a creative side to his game. It'd be suicide.

But then, I think Sullivan knew that when he made the bid.

Re: The transfer window thread
He probably bid £25 for a meal for four at Joe Allen's burger place in Covent Garden.... but backed out when he heard they include a 10% service charge on the bill. Lies , Lies , Lies..

typical Sullivan trying to prove that he was close to getting deals done............. you had all month you prick.

also, his comments about getting behind the team is just him trying to hide until the summer when he can spin some more bullshit.

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan says fans' 'sack the board' chants will achieve 'nothing' as he confirms £25m January bid for Stoke City's Joe Allen

West Ham supporters chanted 'sack the board' as discontent grows at their club
Fans' banners called for David Sullivan and David Gold to leave club at Brighton
Sullivan says their anti-board efforts will achieve 'nothing' and are pointless
West Ham bid £25m for Joe Allen in January but their offer was rejected by Stoke

By Oliver Todd

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has told supporters their protests and chants against him will achieve 'nothing' — while pleading for unity at the troubled club.

The Hammers are three points off the Premier League relegation zone and Sullivan fears a 'disappointing' campaign could soon turn 'disastrous'.

Fans sang 'sack the board' and unveiled banners calling for Sullivan, co-owner David Gold and vice-chairman Karren Brady to leave the club at Brighton on Saturday.

But Sullivan, who also confirmed a failed £25million January bid to sign Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen, says their protests are pointless.

In a statement relayed by talkSPORT, Sullivan said: 'Chants of "sack the board" and opposition to myself and co-owner David Gold will achieve nothing.

'I ask the supporters, every one of them: get behind the team. Through unity we can turn it all around.

'We don't want to find that a disappointing season has turned into a disastrous one.'

Discontent has been growing at West Ham after they failed to make significant permanent signings last month.

That was despite a statement from Sullivan on January 28 insisting 'nothing could be further from the truth' than reports that no more players would be joining due to a lack of funding.

Sullivan has now confirmed, through talkSPORT, that a club-record bid went in for Allen but was rejected.

Last week, the club's head of recruitment Tony Henry, was sacked after Sportsmail revealed he let it known that West Ham did not want any more African players.

At the weekend, manager David Moyes echoed Sullivan's call, stating that West Ham's best chance of staying in the Premier League was for all parties to stick together.

'I've not been here long enough but all I do know is everybody being together, being supportive gives us the best chance of making sure we are a Premier League team,' Moyes said.

'We're going to need that. We're going to need their help.'

Sullivan and Gold first bought into West Ham eight years ago, in January 2010.

Supporters are planning a march to the London Stadium before the home game against Burnley on March 10 in protest against the club's ownership.

We bid £25m for Joe Allen according to Sullivan's mouthpiece Jim White.

Danny Murphy countered by asking if we put a bid in for Messi as well!?!

Re: The transfer window thread
So anyone know where Alex Song has been these last few years and whether he is worth inviting for training? He was struggling when last with us but we are in desperate times. Any other free agent midfielders worth bringing in? Mind you it will cost money whoever it was so probably a non-starter :-(
